In southern Ukraine, the construction of a modern transport hub is ongoing near the international checkpoint “Reni – Giurgiulești”, located on the M-15 Odesa – Reni highway. This facility aims to streamline traffic before crossing the border with Moldova and create comfortable conditions for drivers.

Features of the new transport hub
The complex will cover an area of about 1.7 hectares and will be adapted to serve both freight and passenger vehicles. The main goal of the project is not only to reduce the load on the approaches to the checkpoint but also to provide drivers with convenient conditions while waiting in line. The hub’s territory is planned to include rest areas, sanitary blocks, and all necessary engineering communications for the uninterrupted operation of the complex.
“The new area will cover approximately 1.7 hectares. It will be adapted for both trucks and passenger cars. The main idea is not only to relieve the approaches to the checkpoint but also to create comfortable conditions for drivers who are forced to wait in line.”
Work status and strategic significance
At this point, the foundation of the roadway has been completed, and the main buildings have been constructed. Simultaneously, connections to engineering networks are being established, and landscaping work on the adjacent territory is ongoing. The construction is being carried out on a co-financing basis: half of the funds are provided by the European Union as part of the transport network development program, while the other part is financed by the state.
This hub is part of a large-scale program to update border infrastructure. Upcoming plans include the opening of several similar zones to enhance logistics efficiency and reduce congestion at the border. The implementation of such projects increases throughput capacity and creates predictable conditions for carriers and businesses.
It is worth noting that large-scale repairs of road infrastructure are ongoing throughout Ukraine. As of the end of April 2026, over 5.7 million square meters of damage on international highways and state roads have already been repaired.
