New Railway Connection Planned Between Kyiv and Vienna in Ukraine

Ukraine is considering the launch of a new comfortable transfer railway connection between Kyiv and Vienna, as well as a train with Austrian seating cars to Uzhhorod via Chop. Recently, an important meeting took place in Kyiv between the Chairman of the Board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” Oleksandr Pertsovsky and the General Director of the Austrian state railway company ÖBB Andreas Matthä. The agenda included the creation of a new, more comfortable transfer connection between Kyiv and Vienna. Currently, there is already a train to the capital of Austria, but railway workers are working on improving travel conditions, reducing travel time, and enhancing the level of comfort for passengers.

Additionally, the possibility of launching a train with Austrian seating cars to Uzhhorod via Chop is being discussed. This will allow passengers to conveniently reach Western Ukraine and ensure quick transfers to European destinations, expanding travel opportunities.

As part of the agreements, in addition to improving railway connections, the parties also agreed on cooperation in staff training. Selected employees will undergo training in Vienna, where the sessions will focus on enhancing the quality of passenger service, technical service, and implementing the best European practices into the work of Ukrainian railway workers.

This exchange of experience will help raise the level of service on Ukrainian trains, making them more comfortable and convenient for passengers. Special attention will be paid to adapting international service standards, which will facilitate Ukraine’s integration into the European transport system.

ÖBB is one of the leading railway companies in Europe, providing not only domestic transport but also international routes through the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Croatia. Cooperation with ÖBB opens up new opportunities for Ukraine to integrate into the European transport system.
