Netflix has finalized a deal to acquire the company InterPositive, founded by renowned actor Ben Affleck. According to sources, the total amount of the transaction could reach $600 million, including future payments contingent on the startup’s performance.

InterPositive specializes in developing innovative artificial intelligence tools that assist directors in editing and processing filmed material. These technologies enable rapid background changes and the removal of unwanted objects from scenes without the need for reshoots, significantly simplifying the production process for film companies.
The company, founded by Ben Affleck, has been working for several years to enhance its solutions. Some of InterPositive’s products are actively used in the film industry: recently, director David Fincher employed these tools while creating the film “The Adventures of Cliff Booth” starring Brad Pitt.
AI Becomes a Key Trend in Hollywood
The rapid integration of artificial intelligence into film and series production is becoming a priority for leading market players. Netflix hopes that InterPositive’s technologies will help accelerate content creation and reduce costs in the filmmaking process. Similar steps are being taken by Amazon, which has formed an internal team to develop AI in film, as well as The Walt Disney Company, which has announced a partnership with OpenAI.
However, the use of artificial intelligence raises concerns among creative professionals. They fear that new technologies may lead to job reductions and the training of models on others’ materials without proper compensation.

It is known that Ben Affleck founded InterPositive with the support of investment firm RedBird Capital Partners. After several years of development, the startup began attracting investments in 2025, and Netflix took notice of the technology as a promising tool for its own film production.
