A significant event has occurred in the logistics market of Ukraine — the world’s largest container line, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), has officially acquired 51% of the shares of the TIS Container Terminal. This is the first investment of such scale by a global operator directly into the capital of a domestic container terminal in the country’s history.

A unique deal for Ukraine’s transport industry
According to expert estimates, there have been no transactions of this scale in the Ukrainian transport market over the past decade. Specialists compare this move to high-profile acquisitions that took place in the telecommunications sector, particularly when the French group NJJ Holding invested in Lifecell and Datagroup-Volia.
“It is difficult to assess the value of the deal, but experts believe that there have been no transactions of this scale in Ukraine’s transport industry over the past 10 years. Experts familiar with the market compare the deal to the acquisition of Lifecell and Datagroup-Volia by the French group NJJ Holding,” the statement reads.
