Most Ukrainians Assess Their Family’s Well-Being as Average – Survey

According to the results of the sociological monitoring “Ukrainian Society” by the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 72.4% of Ukrainian citizens consider their families’ material situation to be average. This indicates a stable trend in the perception of personal well-being among the country’s population.

Proportion of Those Experiencing Financial Difficulties

At the same time, the study showed that 21.9% of respondents classify their families as poor, while another 3.5% describe them as destitute. Only a small percentage of respondents consider themselves affluent (2.1%) or wealthy (0.2%). This underscores that a high level of material security remains unattainable for the vast majority of Ukrainians.

Financial Capabilities and Expenses of Ukrainian Families

The majority of survey participants indicated that to cover basic needs, such as food, utilities, and the purchase of budget electronics, they do not need to take out loans or seek assistance:

  • 67.3% do not borrow money for food,
  • 59.7% can pay utility bills independently,
  • 59.6% are able to purchase budget electrical appliances without additional financial support.

At the same time, only 25.5% of respondents are able to buy new significant household appliances without the need to save or go into debt.
