The Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine has completed the review of documents regarding the environmental impact assessment for the construction project of a wind power plant in the Tur’ya-Remetivska community of the Transcarpathian region. The agency has provided a positive conclusion, allowing the implementation of this large-scale energy project.

Environmental Safety of the Project
According to the assessment results, the area designated for the future power plant and the necessary infrastructure is located outside the boundaries of primeval forests, internationally significant wetlands, and is not part of the nature reserve fund or the Emerald Network. All station facilities are situated at a safe distance from protected areas, as confirmed by relevant measurements (80, 140, and 490 meters to the nearest objects of the nature reserve fund and primeval forests), thus the protective boundaries are not violated.
- The studies revealed minimal impact on bird and bat populations.
- The project does not involve deforestation, as access to the site is via an existing road.
- The developer possesses all necessary urban planning and land documents, and no violations were found during inspections.
“The implementation of the project complies with the norms established by the Law of Ukraine on Environmental Impact Assessment, and the developer has all the necessary permits issued properly. From a legal standpoint, the Ministry of Economy has no grounds to deem the activities unacceptable and to impose a complete ban on the project’s implementation.”
Potential of the Wind Farm and Its Impact
The head of the Ministry of Economy, Oleksiy Sobolev, stated that the new station will provide electricity for approximately 235,000 households, equivalent to over half a million Ukrainians. The wind farm will include thirty modern wind energy installations, each with a maximum capacity of up to 5.5 MW. The total capacity of the wind power plant will reach 156 MW, with an annual production of about 480,000 MWh of electricity.
The ministry emphasized that the decision regarding the environmental impact assessment for Polonyna Runa does not imply automatic approval of similar decisions for other sites. Each project is considered individually and within the framework of current legislation.
