Ministry of Defense to Scale Up Middle Strike Attacks on Russian Army Logistics

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has announced the launch of a large-scale program to expand middle strike attacks on the troops and logistics of the Russian Federation. The head of the ministry, Mykhailo Fedorov, stated that the main goal of the initiative is to enhance the effectiveness of destroying enemy resources at operational depth and to deprive the Russian army of the capability for active offensive actions.

“Logistics Lockdown” and New Opportunities for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

According to the minister, the program has been named “Logistics Lockdown” and involves a systematic strengthening of the striking capabilities of the Ukrainian forces. Fedorov noted that Ukraine is gradually seizing the initiative on the front: while in October of last year, Russian troops were losing 67 personnel for every kilometer of advancement, by April 2026 this figure had risen to 179 personnel.

The minister emphasized the significant increase in the effectiveness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — in recent months, the destruction of logistics, warehouses, equipment, and command posts of the enemy at operational depth has increased fourfold. He stressed that the destruction of enemy logistics hubs significantly reduces the number of assault actions by the Russian army along the line of combat engagement.

“We are launching a separate program ‘Logistics Lockdown’ to scale up middle strike and systematically destroy Russian capabilities at operational depth. Our task is to further increase pressure on the Russians in the rear and deprive them of the ability to conduct active assault actions,” he stated.

Funding and Prospects of the Program

The Ministry of Defense, together with the General Staff, has already allocated an additional 5 billion hryvnias for the procurement of modern middle strike means. These funds are directed to the most effective units, which have already begun direct procurement of the necessary weapons.

In the second phase of the program, the ministry is centrally launching tenders for a significant batch of medium-range means. As Fedorov noted, the results of centralized procurement are expected to significantly impact the situation on the front this summer. From now on, even those Russian units that are far from the line of combat will not feel safe.

Mykhailo Fedorov specifically noted that one of the key factors for success has been the disabling of Starlink for the Russians, which has given Ukraine an additional technological advantage. According to him, the scaling of middle strike capabilities is currently taking place in coordination with the military and at the direction of the President.

It is worth recalling that back in May, the minister reported that the slowdown of the advancement of Russian troops was made possible by the active actions of Ukrainian military personnel, technological superiority, and the development of medium-range strike capabilities.
