The Japanese investment company Metaplanet made another significant Bitcoin purchase, acquiring 1,112 BTC for $117 million. The total Bitcoin volume in the company’s portfolio has reached 10,000 BTC, allowing Metaplanet to surpass the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase in this metric. According to market data, the average purchase price for Metaplanet is approximately $96,400 per Bitcoin.

Strategic Goal — 210,000 BTC by the End of 2027

The company announced the issuance of zero-coupon bonds worth $210 million, the proceeds of which will be directed towards further replenishing cryptocurrency reserves. Metaplanet has set an ambitious target: to increase its total Bitcoin holdings to 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027. To achieve this plan, the company needs to acquire approximately 200,000 BTC over the next year and a half, which is currently valued at $21.4 billion.

Metaplanet Shares Rise Amid Aggressive Accumulation Strategy

Amid active cryptocurrency purchases, Metaplanet’s shares (3350T) on the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose by 25.6% in one day, reaching 1,895 yen (approximately $13.2). Since the beginning of 2025, the company’s stock has shown an increase of over 406%, indicating high investor confidence in the chosen strategy.

Demand for Bitcoin from institutional investors remains high, even amid recent price fluctuations. On the night of June 13, 2025, the Bitcoin price dropped from $110,000 to $103,000 due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, but Bitcoin-focused funds recorded capital inflows every day last week.

According to Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley, cryptocurrency retains the potential to eventually surpass the U.S. Treasury bond market in capitalization. The volume of the latter is $30 trillion, according to the expert.
