The President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, expressed hope for the prompt initiation of joint military production with Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of implementing already signed agreements and integrating Ukrainian technologies into joint projects.

Cooperation in Defense and Security
During the Daimex Baltic 2026 defense industry conference taking place in Vilnius, Nausėda highlighted Lithuania’s interest in developing partnerships with Ukraine. According to him, the country is ready to utilize advanced Ukrainian developments to enhance its defense capabilities and expand production capacities. He also noted that Lithuania aims to move as quickly as possible to practical actions within the framework of the agreements already made.
“We are ready and extremely interested in using the latest Ukrainian technologies and developing joint production… We want the wonderful agreements we signed earlier to be implemented in practice so that we can provide concrete examples of how all this works,” said Nausėda.
The Lithuanian leader reminded that he voiced these expectations during a meeting with the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, who visited Lithuania the day before. Nausėda stated that he discussed issues of defense cooperation, regional security, and the situation at the front line with Budanov. The President of Lithuania confirmed that the country will continue to support Ukraine in all key areas.
International Defense Conference in Vilnius
The Daimex Baltic 2026 conference gathered around 2,000 participants and business representatives from 30 countries around the world in Vilnius. Within the framework of the event, four memorandums of cooperation are planned to be signed between Lithuanian defense enterprises and foreign companies and organizations.
Nausėda also emphasized Lithuania’s investment attractiveness for the defense sector, noting that the country is not only introducing tax incentives and simplifying administrative procedures for this business but also giving defense the highest state priority. He stressed the importance of national security and creating favorable conditions for the development of the defense industry.
The Office of the President of Ukraine confirmed that the head of the Office, Kyrylo Budanov, is on a working visit to Lithuania, where he is discussing deepening cooperation in the field of defense.
