Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by Russia, Lithuania has provided nearly 1.8 billion euros in aid to Ukraine. In terms of this indicator relative to its own GDP, the country ranks among the top three global leaders in supporting Kyiv. A significant portion of this amount, around 900 million euros, has been directed towards Ukraine’s defense needs. In addition to military assistance, Lithuania is actively involved in the restoration of Ukraine’s energy sector.

Support for Ukraine’s European Aspirations and Humanitarian Initiatives

During a meeting with Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Ingrida Šimonytė also highlighted the importance of integrating Ukraine into the European Union. According to her, Ukraine has every reason to become a full-fledged EU member by 2030. Additionally, the Lithuanian Prime Minister presented a new humanitarian initiative aimed at supporting children affected by the war, as well as their families.

“We need to quickly learn from your experiences and lessons from the war, particularly in defending against Russian drones,” said Ingrida Šimonytė.
