Paying electricity bills can become significantly easier for Ukrainians, as there are legal ways to save. In particular, using a two-tariff meter for “day-night” can reduce electricity expenses by over 430 UAH per month.
This is reported by Finway
Two-tariff meters have two modes for accounting electricity consumption depending on the time of day. The night tariff, which is in effect from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, is half the price of the day tariff. Currently, the cost of electricity is set at 4.32 UAH per kWh. Thus, the night tariff will be 2.16 UAH per kWh.
Example of Electricity Savings
Let’s consider a family of three living in an apartment with an electric stove and a boiler. If this family consumes 300 kWh of electricity per month without a two-tariff meter, they will pay 1296 UAH at the day tariff. However, if part of the electricity is used at night, for example, when the boiler and energy-consuming appliances are running, expenses can be significantly reduced.
Assuming that 200 kWh is consumed at night, the cost for night consumption will be 432 UAH, and for day consumption, it will be another 432 UAH. Thus, the total expenses will amount to 864 UAH, allowing for savings of over 430 UAH in just one month.
Possible Changes in Tariffs
It is worth noting that electricity tariffs may change, so the amount saved will depend on future adjustments.
