Employers in Ukraine are actively preparing for the summer season — in April, there is an increase in demand for seasonal jobs. It is noted that nearly half of the open vacancies are for inexperienced workers. This is indicated by data from one of the largest job portals, which shows the highest growth of vacancies in the hotel, restaurant, and tourism industries, amounting to +14%. Overall, there are 9,637 vacancies in this sector, with demand for:
This is reported by Finway
- dishwashers (+36%);
- bartenders (+18%);
- waiters and housekeepers (+17%).
Seasonal jobs are also emerging for camp counselors, teachers, and entertainers. However, the majority of vacancies still remain in the category of skilled trades and manufacturing — 18,040 vacancies (+5% compared to March). There is a noticeable shortage of personnel in the following areas:
- service sector — 17,648 offers (+10%);
- retail — 12,427 (+6%);
- sales and procurement — 12,018 (+0.5%);
- logistics, warehousing, and foreign economic activity — 10,445 (+3%).
In April, the most active hiring was done by nationwide retail chains. Among the leaders:
- “Avrora” — 1,218 vacancies;
- “Fora” — 1,061;
- “Nova Poshta” — 962;
- “Silpo” — 883;
- EVA — 855;
- NOVUS — 845.
The majority of vacancies (56%) in April were for experienced specialists. At the same time, 44% of the offers are suitable for newcomers, which is an increase compared to 39% in April 2024. This is explained by the fact that to address the personnel shortage, employers are lowering their requirements for candidates and are willing to invest in their training.
Moreover, job offers for students are increasing — approximately one in four vacancies is suitable for students. At the same time, remote work is becoming less attractive: the number of remote vacancies has only increased by 1%.
In the leading regions by the number of vacancies, there is growth observed over the month, although it is still less than a year ago. There is also a noted decrease in work opportunities in frontline areas. The most new vacancies are observed in the following regions:
- Kirovohrad (+13%);
- Chernihiv (+10%);
- Volyn (+9%);
- Odesa (+7%);
- Khmelnytskyi (+6%).
