Inflation in Ukraine Slowed in July 2025 Due to Lower Vegetable Prices

In July 2025, Ukraine experienced a slight decrease in consumer prices — down 0.2% compared to June. Year-on-year, the inflation rate also slowed, reaching 14.1%.

Change in Food Prices

The cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 1.1% in July. The largest drop was seen in vegetable prices, which fell by 23.9%. However, on a year-on-year basis, vegetable prices remained 17.5% higher. Sugar also became cheaper, with a price decrease of 2.8%.

At the same time, July saw price increases for products such as fruits, eggs, pasta, meat, non-alcoholic beverages, lard, bread, fish, cheese, rice, sunflower oil, milk, and dairy products. The growth rate ranged from 0.3% to 1.7%. The highest annual increase was observed in egg prices, which rose by 82.4%.

Price Dynamics for Other Goods and Services

Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased in price by 1.8% over the month, and year-on-year, they rose by 19.2%. The main factor was the increase in the cost of tobacco products by 2.6%. Meanwhile, clothing and footwear decreased in price by 4.6%, while transportation service prices rose by 1.6%.

Globally, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, meat and vegetable oils saw the largest price increases in July. Meat prices reached a historical high, while vegetable oils hit their highest level in the last three years.
