In Ukraine, the possibility of changing the principles of pension calculations for prosecutors is being considered. In the Verkhovna Rada, it is proposed that such pensions be paid only after retirement from the prosecution service, and disability pensions be granted to prosecutors on general grounds.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy has recommended that the parliament adopt as a basis draft law No. 12278, authored by the committee chair Galyna Tretyakova from the “Servant of the People” faction. This document has been sent for a repeated first reading, taking into account Tretyakova’s proposals.
Although the text of the revised draft law has not yet been published, the committee’s conclusion states that its aim is to change the conditions for granting pensions to prosecutors and to implement uniform grounds for their recalculation.
Main Changes in the Draft Law
Among the proposed changes:
- Pensions for prosecutors will be paid only after retirement from the prosecution service;
- For prosecutors with disabilities, pensions will be granted on general grounds;
- Pensions will be calculated according to the rules of the law “On Mandatory State Pension Insurance”;
- No pensions will be paid to individuals who do not have the right to them.
Furthermore, the draft law stipulates that the Cabinet of Ministers and central law enforcement agencies must develop legislative proposals to unify approaches to determining the financial support for prosecutors and law enforcement officers. Proposals must be submitted by December 1, 2025.
