IMF Improves Dollar Exchange Rate Forecast for Ukraine Until 2030

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has updated its forecasts for the dollar to hryvnia exchange rate until 2030, particularly improving expectations for the Ukrainian economy. According to the new data, the dollar exchange rate in Ukraine will reach 50 hryvnias only in 2029.

The World Economic Outlook report for April 2025 presents the following forecasts for the average annual hryvnia to dollar exchange rate:

  • 2025: 42.5 UAH/USD (previous forecast — 45.0 UAH/USD);
  • 2026: 45.6 UAH/USD (previous forecast — 46.8 UAH/USD);
  • 2027: 47.5 UAH/USD (previous forecast — 48.6 UAH/USD);
  • 2028: 48.9 UAH/USD (previous forecast — 50.2 UAH/USD);
  • 2029: 50.1 UAH/USD (previous forecast — 51.7 UAH/USD);
  • 2030: 51.6 UAH/USD.

Additionally, the IMF has lowered its growth forecast for the Ukrainian economy in 2025 to 2.0%, while the October forecast had this figure at 2.5%. It is expected that Ukraine’s gross domestic product (GDP) will grow by 4.5% in 2026, and by 4.8% in 2027.
