Illegal Sale of Counterfeit Fuel Discovered in Odesa Region

In Ukraine, a case of the illegal sale of counterfeit fuel, including gasoline and diesel, has been uncovered. The perpetrator organized the sale of counterfeit products in the city of Tatarbunary and the village of Spaske in the Odesa region. The case has now been referred to court, as reported by the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB).

Investigation Details

According to information from the BEB, the perpetrator was purchasing fuel of unknown origin without any licenses or registrations. To store the fuel, he acquired special containers and equipment that make up a fuel dispensing unit.

“Subsequently, the individual resold gasoline and diesel fuel. For this purpose, he installed refueling equipment in non-residential premises and cargo vehicles,” the report states.

Results of the Searches

Ten searches were conducted in the case, resulting in the seizure of assets worth nearly 3 million hryvnias. Specifically, the following was discovered:

  • over 12 tons of diesel fuel and gasoline;
  • 14 containers with a capacity of 500-3000 liters, equipped with a gas station system;
  • 4 vehicles that were used as mobile gas stations.

The case has now been referred to court under Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The perpetrator faces a fine ranging from 85,000 to 170,000 hryvnias.
