In Ukraine, there is now an opportunity to profitably sell old coins, particularly certain varieties that are valued by collectors. Due to their unique characteristics, these coins can bring significant sums of money to their owners. For example, a 10 kopecks coin from 1992 was sold at auction for an impressive 33,006 UAH. The auction took place on the Violity platform.

The coin that was sold features the 4 VAm variety, which makes it so valuable.
“4VAm is a rare variety of the 10 kopecks coin from 1992. Such 10 kopecks were minted at the Luhansk Machine-Building Plant using English dies, which is why numismatists refer to them as ‘the English one’,” said experts from the resource ‘Coins-Berries’.
Experts explained that the punches (metal rods) for minting the first Ukrainian coins were made in Great Britain, but Ukrainian specialists sent sketches with errors. As a result, punches were produced in Britain based on these sketches, which created a reverse effect during minting: the shield was convex, while the trident was recessed. In all other varieties of the 10 kopecks coin, the trident should be convex.
Experts also noted: “All defective coins were supposed to be sent for quarantine and then melted down. It is unknown where the ‘English’ 10 kopecks coins on auctions come from. It is likely that a very small number of the first 10 kopecks made it to workers, who then sold these coins to numismatists.”
Information About the Sold Coin
It is known that the sold coin is made of brass and has defects such as scratches, wear, and tarnishing. No restoration of this coin has been conducted, which may also affect its value.
