Hospitals in Lviv Must Not Be Disconnected from Electricity — Svyrydenko

Recently, there have been instances of electricity disconnections in some hospitals in Lviv, as well as a complete halt of municipal electric transport due to a shortage of electricity supply.

The Government Has Imposed a Ban on Disconnecting Hospitals

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stated that the government has made a decision prohibiting the disconnection of electricity supply for healthcare facilities, even when implementing restrictive schedules. This decision aims to ensure the stable operation of medical institutions during the autumn-winter period of 2025/26.

“This is enshrined in the Cabinet’s decision regarding measures to ensure the supply of electrical energy during the autumn-winter period of 2025/26,” Svyrydenko noted.

Monitoring Compliance with the New Order

Svyrydenko emphasized that local authorities and other responsible entities must unconditionally comply with the government’s resolution regarding the provision of electricity to hospitals. At the same time, she reported that regulatory bodies, including the State Energy Supervision, have already begun immediate inspections of information regarding possible violations in the regions, particularly in Lviv.

Thus, the government has strengthened the requirements for energy companies and authorities to protect medical facilities from electricity disconnections during periods of increased load on the energy system.
