Hackers Lost Nearly $7 Million Due to Failed Ethereum Transactions

A wallet, which analysts claim belongs to hackers, suffered significant losses in the Ethereum market. In April 2025, over 12,000 ETH was sent to this address, obtained from the THORChain and Chainflip platforms. At that time, the assets were sold at a reduced price of about $1,932 per Ethereum, totaling approximately $23.72 million.

Significant Losses Due to Unprofitable Trades

Three months later, on June 30, 2025, the wallet owner decided to buy back a portion of the cryptocurrency—4,958 ETH—but at a significantly higher price of $2,495 per unit. Such actions resulted in total losses of around $6.9 million, calculated specialists from Lookonchain.

Sharp Increase in Hacker Attacks in 2025

This incident was just one of a series of major events in the crypto industry. In June 2025, the digital asset market lost nearly $112 million due to hacker attacks. In that month, 15 large-scale attacks on crypto projects were recorded.

In the first half of 2025, losses in the crypto market from hacker activities reached over $2.1 billion, setting a record for the industry and exceeding the peak figures of 2022 by 10%. This amount is nearly equal to all losses incurred in 2024, indicating a significant rise in cyber threats in the digital asset space.
