GlobalWafers Invests $7.5 Billion in U.S. Manufacturing

GlobalWafers, which is part of the Taiwanese conglomerate led by TSMC, is expanding its operations in the American market. This is happening amid growing demand from clients, including giants like Apple Inc. and Nvidia Corp., who intend to expand production and procurement in the U.S.

Manufacturing Migration to the U.S.

Taiwanese companies specializing in electronics manufacturing are actively relocating their production facilities to the U.S. This process was initiated due to sanctions imposed by Washington, but it has gained momentum due to the threat of new tariffs and trade barriers announced by the current president.

In addition to TSMC, Foxconn Technology Group is also collaborating with Apple to create new assembly facilities for AI servers in Texas. This Taiwanese company, which manufactures iPhones and AI servers for Nvidia, also has plans to expand production in other U.S. states.

Creation of New Jobs

The GlobalWafers project in Texas has already created 1,200 construction jobs and 180 permanent positions. The company plans to hire up to 650 specialists in engineering, maintenance, and operations by the end of 2028, according to a statement made on Friday.
