Volkswagen Prepares New Electric Touareg: All About the Model Relaunch

The German automotive group Volkswagen is preparing a major update for its flagship model, the Touareg. It is expected that the well-known crossover will not only change generations but will also become a fully electric vehicle, maintaining its focus on comfort and quality, but at a modern technological level.

Volkswagen’s Plans for the Future Touareg

According to Martin Sander, a member of the Volkswagen board responsible for sales and marketing, the company does not plan to completely abandon the Touareg, despite the end of production of the current generation. Martin Sander emphasized that there is a distinct niche in the market for a large crossover that offers a high level of quality, space, and design, but is not a premium brand.

“The Touareg is not very mainstream, but it has its place, and that’s why we are looking for opportunities for the next generation. This market exists somewhere between the mass and premium segments and is aimed at customers who want a vehicle with excellent design and space, as well as a very high level of quality and sophistication, but for some reason do not want to be associated with a premium brand. This is the target group for the Touareg, and we are considering ways to provide these customers with a future product,” said Martin Sander.

Features of the New Electric Crossover

The new generation Volkswagen Touareg will be fully electric. It is known that the model will be built on the modern SSP platform, which is already used by Volkswagen’s ID. Golf and ID. Tiguan electric vehicles. It is still unknown whether the crossover will retain the familiar name Touareg or receive a new designation, such as ID. Touareg, or an entirely different name.

The target audience for the new electric crossover consists of customers looking for a spacious and quality vehicle without associations with premium brands, but with a high level of sophistication and modern technologies. At the same time, Volkswagen continues to expand its crossover lineup: the largest crossover of the brand, the Volkswagen Atlas 2027, was recently unveiled.
