Steel Production Dynamics in the CIS Countries and Ukraine
The total steel production figures in the CIS countries, along with Ukraine, decreased by 4.4% year-on-year, amounting to 81.3 million tons by the end of 2025. In Ukraine, steel output fell by 2.2% — to 7.41 million tons.
Top 10 Steel Producing Countries in 2025
According to the World Steel Association, the top ten global steel producers in 2025 were:
- China – 960.8 million tons (a decrease of 4.4% compared to 2024);
- India – 164.9 million tons (an increase of 10.4%);
- USA – 82 million tons (an increase of 3.1%);
- Japan – 80.7 million tons (a decrease of 4%);
- Russian Federation – 67.8 million tons (a decrease of 4.5%);
- South Korea – 61.9 million tons (a decrease of 2.8%);
- Turkey – 38.1 million tons (an increase of 3.3%);
- Germany – 34.1 million tons (a decrease of 8.6%);
- Brazil – 33.3 million tons (a decrease of 1.6%);
- Iran – 31.8 million tons (an increase of 1.4%).
“In December of last year, global steel production fell by 3.7% compared to the same month in 2024 — to 139.6 million tons. In the CIS countries and Ukraine, this figure decreased by 2.7% year-on-year — to 6.9 million tons.”
