Evaluation Methodology and Ukraine’s Strengths

The global ranking takes into account not only the size of personnel and equipment but also economic and demographic factors. For Ukraine, experts highlighted advantages in the size of its active army, significant reserves, and the availability of military equipment. Additionally, the development of naval capabilities was noted, particularly related to the use of maritime drones, as well as substantial coal production, an extensive railway network, and significant defense expenditures.

Weaknesses and Position Among Neighbors in the Ranking

Among the shortcomings of the Ukrainian army are the lack of submarines and large combat ships, such as aircraft carriers, frigates, corvettes, and destroyers, as well as its own tankers. High levels of coal, oil, and gas consumption were also identified as weaknesses. As a result of these factors, Ukraine found itself alongside countries such as Spain (18th place), Egypt (19th), Poland (21st), and Taiwan (22nd).

“A country’s position in the global military power ranking is assessed based on over 60 indicators, which include not only nominal figures for the number of soldiers and military equipment but also economic and demographic potential.”
