In Ukraine, there is a significant decrease in cherry prices. Over the past few days, the average cost of the berry has dropped from 200 UAH/kg to 150 UAH/kg. Despite this trend, prices remain at the highest level in the last decade.

The high prices for cherries are due to frost during the flowering of stone fruit crops and the cold weather observed this month. According to analysts, last year on May 27, cherries cost 135 UAH/kg, in 2020 they were 60 UAH/kg, in 2019 they were 35 UAH/kg, and in 2016 they were 25 UAH/kg.
“Last year, cherries cost 135 UAH/kg a day earlier (May 27), in 2020 they were 60 UAH/kg, in 2019 they were 35 UAH/kg, and in 2016 they were 25 UAH/kg,” experts say.
A week ago, only imported cherries dominated the market, with prices reaching astronomical levels, sometimes hitting 1500 UAH/kg. For example, one package spotted in Rivne contained only 11 berries and cost 162.76 UAH.
Experts predict that high cherry prices will persist for at least a month, until the appearance of Transcarpathian products. The latter may be sold at prices of 300, 200, or even 100 UAH per kilogram.
