The Federal Government of Germany is finalizing the development of a draft law aimed at establishing clear rules for price formation at gas stations. According to the initiative, gas stations will be allowed to adjust their prices only once a day — at 12:00 PM, which is intended to prevent frequent fluctuations in fuel costs and ensure greater transparency for consumers.

Creation of a Strategic Gas Reserve
Germany’s Minister of Energy and Economy, Katharina Reiche, also announced discussions on the possibility of creating a special strategic gas reserve that would be insulated from market influences. This measure is being considered as a means to enhance the country’s energy security in case of emergencies.
“We are discussing the creation of a protected reserve that is separate from the market,” Reiche noted.
According to the minister, experts are analyzing various models for the effective implementation of such a system. The goal is to establish the reserve before the start of the next winter to ensure a stable supply of energy resources in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
Status of Gas Storage and Energy Market
Katharina Reiche pointed out that there is currently no need to implement emergency measures for filling gas storage facilities. At present, their filling level reaches 22%, which is sufficient to complete the current heating season. Already, 64% of storage capacity has been reserved for next winter, providing additional confidence in the stability of supplies.
<p>At the same time, natural gas prices in Europe have significantly increased due to the tense situation in the Middle East. Over the past week, following the onset of military actions involving the USA and Israel against Iran, the price of gas has nearly doubled.
