According to the data from Natural gas ExPro quotes as of April 29, gas prices in Ukraine reached approximately €31.8 per MWh, while spot prices on the Dutch TTF were €31.5 per MWh. This marks the first time since May 1, 2024, that gas prices in Ukraine have surpassed European prices, with the spread between them reaching €0.3.
This is reported by Finway
The reason for this situation is the decline in natural gas prices in Europe observed over the past week, driven by warm weather and stable gas supplies. At the same time, prices in Ukraine have increased due to steady demand, particularly from state companies Naftogaz and the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine. Additionally, supply volumes have decreased as Ukrnafta suspended gas sales on the market due to a government decision requiring it to sell gas to Naftogaz under preferential conditions.
However, the current spread between gas prices in Ukraine and Europe is insufficient to restore commercial imports of natural gas by private companies, as it does not cover transportation costs. If this trend continues, traders may begin importing gas for sale in the Ukrainian market.
