Forecast for Ukraine’s Agricultural Exports for the 2025/26 Marketing Year

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has presented its first forecast for grain exports from Ukraine for the 2025/26 marketing year. According to the forecast, wheat exports are expected to rise to 16.5 million tons, while corn exports are projected to reach 24 million tons. At the same time, wheat harvest in Ukraine in 2025 may decrease to 23 million tons, whereas the USDA predicts an increase in corn harvest to 30.5 million tons.

Overall, it is estimated that the harvest of feed crops this year will amount to approximately 37.04 million tons, with exports reaching 27.58 million tons, compared to 24.48 million tons last year.

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, as of May 12, 2024-2025 marketing year, the country has exported 36.4 million tons of grains and legumes. Of this amount, 1.17 million tons were shipped in May. In comparison, as of May 13 last year, the total volume of shipments was 43.21 million tons, with 1.85 million tons in May.

As of today, farmers have sown grains and legumes on 76% of the sown area, which amounts to over 4.3 million hectares. The Ukrainian government hopes that the 2025 harvest will not be lower than last year’s.
