Some Areas Left Without Electricity
Video footage from the scene was shared by the “Kyiv Info” channel. Reports indicate that the fire caused voltage fluctuations, and in some buildings on the Left Bank, electricity completely vanished. In particular, the “Vmykach Kyiv” channel reported that there was a total power outage on Raidozhna Street.
“The fire, judging by the video footage, is quite serious. Meanwhile, neither the State Emergency Service nor other official bodies have commented on the fire. DTEK has also not responded to this.”
Other Incidents and the Energy Situation
Currently, there have been no official comments from the State Emergency Service or energy companies regarding this fire. It is known that there are no scheduled power outages planned for tomorrow, April 19, in Kyiv.
On April 18, another large fire occurred in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital. The blaze started in a building where an armed man had taken hostages.
This is not the first incident of accidents at transformer substations in Kyiv — in January 2026, a transformer exploded at one of the local substations.
It is worth noting that experts predict a possible increase in electricity tariffs as early as June 2026, after the heating season ends. According to expert Stanislav Ihnatiev, the current tariffs are valid until the end of May, and updated prices may be implemented at the beginning of summer.
