In 2025, Ukrainian ferrosilicon production enterprises demonstrated significant growth in output volumes. By the end of the year, the total volume of produced ferrosilicon reached 127 thousand tons, which is 17% more compared to the previous period.

Production Dynamics of Main Types of Ferrosilicon
Throughout 2025, the segment of ferrosilicon used in metallurgy showed the largest increase. The production of silicomanganese rose by 8.7% to 113.2 thousand tons. An even more substantial increase occurred in the production of ferromanganese — nearly fourfold, reaching 13.8 thousand tons.
At the same time, the production of ferrosilicon and other types of ferrosilicon was not carried out in 2025.
Changes in Market Strategy and Operations of Enterprises
“Ferrosilicon plants have shifted their focus to the domestic market, as high domestic prices, difficulties with export logistics, and other factors create more favorable conditions for supplying the Ukrainian market rather than for export. There is even re-export: previously exported products intended for sale in Europe are being returned or will be returned to fulfill contracts in the domestic market during plant downtimes. Moreover, the current production volume is insufficient to meet export contracts,” notes Serhiy Kudryavtsev.
Industry enterprises are increasingly focusing on meeting domestic demand, driven by both competitive prices in the domestic market and logistical complications for exports. Alongside this, there is a trend of re-export, where previously exported products are returned for use in Ukraine.
Regarding raw material supply, in 2025, the Pokrovsk and Marganets mining and processing plants produced 171 thousand tons of manganese concentrate. These enterprises were not operational during 2024. For comparison, in 2021, the Pokrovsk plant produced 1.21 million tons of concentrate, while the Marganets plant produced 551 thousand tons.
