European Partners Invest $400 Million in Municipal Rental Housing in Ukraine

Європейські партнери готові вкласти $400 млн в проєкт муніципального орендного житла в Україні.

European financial institutions have confirmed their intention to invest $400 million in the development of municipal rental housing in Ukraine. The initial phase of the project involves the construction of housing in ten pilot regions, as reported by the Minister for Community and Territorial Development, Oleksiy Kuleba.

This is reported by Finway

“We are in negotiations with the European Commission and the European Investment Bank. They have supported and confirmed their readiness to participate in this project. Currently, we are discussing an initial $400 million for the first 10 pilot communities,” Kuleba said.

Discussion on the Placement of Municipal Housing

Discussions are currently underway regarding the selection of locations for the implementation of the project. On one hand, society is interested in placing housing closer to the regions from which potential tenants originate—these are mostly areas adjacent to temporarily occupied territories or those with active combat operations. At the same time, European partners suggest focusing on communities located near the border with the European Union.

Construction of Housing for Displaced Persons from Mariupol

Additionally, Oleksiy Kuleba announced another important project—the construction of a residential quarter in Bila Tserkva for internally displaced persons from Mariupol. According to him, this complex will consist of three residential buildings and will combine two support models: the construction of municipal rental housing and preferential mortgage lending for Mariupol residents who are ready to purchase an apartment.

The funding for this project is being provided from the budget of the Mariupol community. The first construction works are planned to begin this year.
