European Banks Allocate 250 Million Euros to Ukraine for Housing and Infrastructure

As part of their support for Ukraine, European banks are providing significant financial assistance. In particular, the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) is granting the country €50 million to implement a subsidized mortgage program for internally displaced persons (IDPs).

This is reported by Finway

“These funds will enable approximately 1,100 IDP families to access affordable housing by 2025,” noted the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.

This is already the second phase of cooperation between Ukraine and the CEB under the project “Housing for Internally Displaced Persons.” Borrowers among IDPs will be able to obtain housing loans at a fixed interest rate of 3% per annum for a term of up to 30 years with a minimum down payment of 6% of the chosen housing cost.

Additionally, from the European Investment Bank, Ukraine has received €200 million for the restoration of water supply, heating, and social infrastructure damaged by the war. Two agreements have been signed:

  • the first provides €100 million for the restoration of water supply and drainage systems;
  • the second allocates another €100 million for the repair and modernization of water and heating supply facilities, as well as housing stock and social infrastructure.
