Integration of Digital Payment Solutions for Travelers

As part of the new partnership, the parties plan to integrate modern digital payment tools, including cryptocurrencies, into services related to travel and retail. This will enable travelers to book tickets as well as pay for goods and services using digital assets, significantly expanding the opportunities for Dubai’s tourism industry and retail sector.

Supporting the Dubai D33 Strategy and Development Prospects

The planned initiative aims to support the Dubai D33 agenda—a large-scale strategy for developing a “smart” economy that involves the active implementation of digital solutions in both the public and private sectors. The D33 strategy aims to double Dubai’s gross domestic product by 2033, strengthening the city’s position as a global center for innovation.

The Chairman of Emirates Group and President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, emphasized the importance of this collaboration:

“This partnership agreement is a promising step towards achieving our shared goal of transforming the travel and trade sector. We aim to enhance the experience of travelers at all stages—from booking to retail—while supporting the Dubai D33 agenda aimed at strengthening the city’s position as a global center for innovation and a ‘smart’ economy,” Al Maktoum emphasized.

Previously, the UAE state oil company Emarat, in collaboration with Crypto.com, had already implemented the ability to pay with cryptocurrencies at gas stations, indicating the growing role of digital assets in various aspects of life in the UAE.
