A new electric scooter rental service has launched in Kyiv, now available to residents and visitors of the capital. The first 50 electric scooters have appeared on the central streets of the city as part of a pilot project by the company “Zelectra,” which is already known to Kyiv residents for its rental of scooters and electric bicycles.

How the Electric Scooter Rental Works in Kyiv
To use the electric scooter, you need to download the “Zelectra” mobile app. Unlike the electric scooter rental, drivers must upload their national driver’s license to the app and confirm that they are at least 18 years old. Importantly, having a category A or A1 driver’s license is not mandatory — it is sufficient to have a license to operate any vehicle.
The electric scooters are designed for two passengers, and for their safety, each vehicle’s trunk contains two protective helmets. The maximum speed of the scooters is limited to 45 km/h, which complies with the standards for similar transport in Ukrainian cities.
Rates and Future Development of the Service
During the testing period, a special rate applies: the initial ride costs 65 UAH, and each subsequent minute is 6.5 UAH. A price increase is expected in the future. The company “Zelectra” plans to gradually increase the number of available electric scooters on the streets of Kyiv.
“We see a problem in that these speedy scooters are parked on the sidewalk. There is a risk that users will ride them. It is clear that the time has come for Kyiv to allocate parking spaces for such rental scooters, bicycles, and mopeds on the roadway,” noted Grechko.
The introduction of electric scooter rentals in Kyiv aims to enhance the mobility of city residents and reduce the burden on public transport. The new service has already attracted the attention of transport specialists, who are urging the city authorities to create designated parking spaces for this type of transport and to avoid parking on sidewalks.
