In 2024, the production volume of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Ukraine significantly increased, reaching 1.7 million units. In comparison, this figure was only 1,200 units in 2022 and 415,030 drones in 2023. Thus, in just two years, the country’s defense industry has demonstrated rapid growth in the field of unmanned technologies.

Growth in the Production of Electronic Warfare and Reconnaissance Systems
In addition to drones, there has been a substantial increase in the production of electronic warfare (EW) and electronic reconnaissance (ER) systems in Ukraine in 2024. Last year, 34,700 units of such systems were produced, significantly exceeding the figures for 2022 (only 53 units) and 2023 (98 systems). It is worth noting that these data do not account for equipment created for charitable organizations, military units, or local government bodies.
“Along with the quantitative production figures, the range of products has also significantly expanded, particularly as various types of UAVs are now being produced in Ukraine. In 2025, the Ukrainian defense sector has the capacity to manufacture over 8 million UAVs and 385,800 EW and ER systems.”
Support for Manufacturers and Industry Prospects
A significant contribution to the development of the industry has been made by the state-owned Oschadbank, which provided bank guarantees amounting to €837 million for four Ukrainian UAV manufacturers. These guarantees were issued as part of an agreement between Ukraine and the Netherlands, allowing manufacturers to receive partial prepayment from the Dutch government and expedite the delivery of drones for frontline needs. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Oschadbank has already financed defense enterprises with 17.5 billion hryvnias in loans.
