He also explained why this particular facility became a target for the strike.

According to Robert Brovdi, the enterprise in Cherepovets is a major producer of chemical products, including ammonia, nitrate, and nitric acid. Each year, the plant produces hundreds of thousands of tons of these substances, which are used as raw materials for the production of explosives, including TNT, hexogen, and other components of ammunition.

Details of the Attack on the Apatite Plant
Information about the attack on the “Apatite” facility in Cherepovets emerged early in the morning on April 13. Reports indicate that Ukrainian drones struck the facility at least twice, which is part of the chemical cluster of the “PhosAgro” group. According to the company’s data, it is the largest producer of phosphorus-containing fertilizers, phosphoric and sulfuric acids in Europe, as well as one of the leading producers of ammonia, ammonium nitrate, and NPK fertilizers in Russia.
The “Apatite” plant has been targeted before: on the night of March 27, 2026, a fire also occurred on its premises as a result of a previous strike.
