Ukrainian consumers can rest assured that there will not be a significant rise in butter prices ahead of the Christmas holidays. Market analysts and representatives of the dairy industry believe that even with regular power outages, the price of butter will remain stable, and in some cases, may even decrease.

European Imports Curb Price Increases
According to experts, the main reason for price stability is the availability of cheaper European imports in the market. This prevents domestic producers from raising the prices of their products. Even considering the increased costs due to the use of generators to ensure production processes, competition from imported products restrains any potential price hikes.
The chairman of the supervisory board of PJSC “Dairy Alliance,” Serhiy Vovchenko, emphasizes that most producers already have their own generation capabilities for receiving and cooling milk, and large enterprises even use cogeneration units. Therefore, there are currently no grounds for price increases.
“Practically everyone has generation capabilities to receive and cool milk. Large enterprises even have cogeneration. Thus, there is no reason to raise prices,” says the chairman of the supervisory board of PJSC “Dairy Alliance,” Serhiy Vovchenko.
Pre-New Year Promotions and Decreased Demand
Executive Director of the Dairy Enterprises Union, Arsen Didur, notes that in conditions of weak consumer demand, producers cannot afford to raise prices on butter. Moreover, in the near future, Ukrainians will have the opportunity to purchase this product at promotional prices, as retail chains traditionally hold pre-New Year sales. According to the expert’s forecasts, savings for buyers may reach 25-30% off the regular price of butter.
Didur emphasizes that the trend of decreasing butter prices will continue, and soon the product will become even more affordable for Ukrainian families.
