A Digital Platform eFood for Food Safety Control Launches in Ukraine

The Ukrainian government has initiated the implementation of the digital platform eFood, aimed at unifying state registers in the field of food safety. The service will allow most permitting procedures to be transferred to a digital format and will also integrate with European control systems, opening new opportunities for Ukrainian producers to export to EU markets.

“The authorities expect that thanks to digital tools, control will become more effective and transparent. At the same time, interaction between business and the government will be faster and less bureaucratic.”

Reducing Timeframes and Minimizing Bureaucracy for Businesses

For entrepreneurs, the implementation of eFood means a significant simplification in obtaining the necessary permits. Now, documents can be processed online through state services, taking only a few days instead of weeks. The automation of procedures will reduce human intervention, decrease corruption risks, and provide greater transparency in business processes related to food safety.

Modernizing Control and Budget Savings

Regulatory authorities will gain access to modern digital tools, including mobile applications, tablets, and inspection recording devices. This will enable the conversion of dozens of administrative services into electronic format, improve oversight quality, and use budget funds more effectively. The state expects that through digitalization, significant savings from the state budget can be achieved annually.

Particular attention in the eFood system is given to product safety: full traceability of goods from producer to consumer is ensured. In case of dangerous food detection, the system will respond promptly through special notification mechanisms, guaranteeing the protection of consumer interests.

The launch of eFood will occur in stages. In the initial phase, digitalization will cover the most demanded services: registration of production facilities, obtaining operational permits, submitting feed declarations, and more. Over time, the functionality of the service will be expanded, gradually forming a unified digital ecosystem in the field of food safety, bringing Ukraine closer to European Union standards.

The main advantage of eFood is the significant acceleration of procedures and convenience for businesses. At the start, the system will cover 9 key services, including submitting declarations, registering facilities, and obtaining permits in the food production sector.
