“Currently, events are boiling in the Middle East, and as is known, the Zionist Israel has killed hundreds of thousands of people. With God’s help, it will pay for this. I have no doubt about that,” Erdogan said, addressing those present after the prayer.
Turkey’s Position on the Middle East Conflict
Official Ankara has previously emphasized that it will not allow itself to be drawn into an armed conflict in the Middle East. In particular, Turkish forces intercepted a missile launched from Iranian territory that was heading towards Turkey. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of NATO’s air and missile defense forces in the Eastern Mediterranean, casualties were avoided, and the Turkish authorities confirmed their readiness to defend their sovereignty.
After the incident, the Turkish Foreign Minister held a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart to express condemnation of Tehran’s actions. The Turkish diplomat stressed the importance of avoiding further escalation of tensions in the region.
Turkey’s Calls to the International Community
Additionally, Turkey’s First Lady, Emine Erdogan, reached out with a letter to Melania Trump, urging her to show the same concern for the children in Gaza that the U.S. President’s wife had previously shown for Ukrainian children. Thus, the Turkish authorities continue to actively advocate for peace and the protection of civilians in the Middle East.
