On the night of October 9, the city of Chornomorsk in the Odesa region was left without electricity due to a massive attack by Russian drones. This was reported by the city mayor, Vasyl Huliaiev, who noted that the critical infrastructure of the city is currently operating on backup generators.

Consequences of the Shelling and the Work of Energy Workers
As a result of the shelling, civilian infrastructure facilities and private homes were damaged. According to the mayor, there have been no reports of fatalities, but there are injuries among residents. Electricity supply is absent across the entire territory of the Chornomorsk community, with the exception of the village of Burlacha Balka.
“The critical infrastructure is currently operating on generators. Thank God, at this moment there are no reports of fatalities, but there are injured,” noted the city leader.
Energy workers from DTEK are making efforts to switch critical infrastructure facilities and residential buildings to backup lines where technical capabilities allow. The company emphasizes that the extent of the damage is significant, so repairs will take some time.
Electricity Supply Situation in the Regions
According to the Ministry of Energy, work to restore electricity supply for consumers in the city is ongoing. The situation remains complicated in the Chernihiv region, where, as reported by “Ukrenergo”, three rounds of outages are currently in effect simultaneously, and restrictions on electricity supply continue to be applied.
