In Cherkasy region, an electric train caught fire during transit: 40 passengers evacuated

An emergency occurred in the Cherkasy region: on May 12, near the village of Kosari in the Cherkasy district, a fire broke out in one of the carriages of an electric train during transit. According to the State Emergency Service, the incident happened on the route of train “No. 6551/6552 Cherkasy — Znamenka”.

Evacuation of passengers and actions of rescuers

After receiving the report of the fire, rescuers promptly arrived at the scene. They organized the evacuation of 40 passengers who were in the carriage during the fire. Fortunately, no one was injured.

“Due to the fire, it was necessary to evacuate 40 passengers from the train. There were no injuries.”

Extinguishing the fire and consequences of the incident

Firefighters managed to quickly extinguish the flames. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire and all circumstances of the incident. Ukrzaliznytsia reported that after the fire broke out, passengers were transferred to a backup train, which departed from the Kosari station with a delay of one and a half hours.

Additionally, it became known that another incident recently occurred in Kyiv – a teenager suffered burns when climbing onto the roof of an electric train and caught fire.
