On Ukrainian roads, you can encounter cars that have registration numbers from the ‘DI’ series. These plates are issued to vehicle owners who re-register their cars through the mobile application DiiA.
This is reported by Finway
According to information provided by DiiA, there are several ways to apply for the service. Among them:
- in person;
- through a legal representative;
- by filling out an online application via a link.
“Registration and re-registration of wheeled vehicles of all categories are carried out at the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, administrative service centers, as a result of which the applicant receives a certificate of vehicle registration, license plates, or an account card and license plates for one-time trips,” noted DiiA.
It is important to note that vehicle owners are not obligated to obtain license plates from the ‘DI’ series. At their discretion, they can continue to use their old plates.
Additionally, Ukrainian drivers can choose their own numbers for their cars, but this will come at a considerable cost. For example, the cheapest combinations cost around 4800 UAH. According to the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, such combinations include:
- two consecutive pairs of identical digits (for example, 0066, 6622);
- identical first and third digits, or second and fourth, or first and fourth, or first and third (for example, 0101, 0550, 1001, 1441);
- three identical digits placed consecutively (for example, 2666, 9666);
- three identical digits placed non-consecutively (for example, 0700, 1011).
The most expensive combinations cost 96,000 UAH. This price applies to three combinations: 0001, 0009, 7777.
