The price of cabbage in Ukraine has significantly increased — it has risen by 27% compared to last Friday. Farmers are currently offering cabbage at prices ranging from 7 to 16 hryvnias per kilogram, depending on quality and purchase volumes. Thus, on average, the product has become more expensive by more than a quarter just in the past week.

Reasons for the Sharp Price Increase
The main reason for the increase in cabbage prices, experts say, is the off-season period in the domestic market. The average varieties of the vegetable are almost completely sold out, and only a few farms have started selling late varieties. At the same time, the demand for cabbage remains high, which, combined with limited supply, leads to rising prices.
Despite the price increase, the current cost of cabbage in Ukraine is still 36% lower than during the same period last year. Market experts suggest that prices may continue to rise at the beginning of next week. However, it is expected that in a few weeks, with the mass arrival of late cabbage varieties to the market, prices will begin to decrease.
“Cabbage has already increased in price by 27% compared to last Friday”.
Current Prices in Ukrainian Supermarkets
- In the “Silpo” chain, cabbage costs 17 UAH/kg.
- In the Novus supermarket, the price of the vegetable is 12.89 UAH/kg.
- In the ATB chain, cabbage is sold for 11.89 UAH/kg.
Given the dynamics of supply and demand, consumers should be prepared for possible fluctuations in cabbage prices over the coming weeks.
