A Business Insurance Program for War Risks Has Launched in Ukraine

A new government program for insuring business assets against war risks has been launched in Ukraine, with the first five companies already submitting their applications. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. Among the first enterprises to take advantage of this opportunity is Suziria Group from Kharkiv, which specializes in pet products. Despite the ongoing hostilities, the company has maintained its team and production facilities in the frontline city.

“Despite the war, they have preserved jobs in the frontline city: one of their offices and logistics-production facilities. For the company, the new mechanism from the government has become one of the opportunities to plan its development even in the face of war risks,” Svyrydenko said, adding that the other four applicants are also businesses from frontline regions.

Details of the New Insurance Program

According to the program’s terms, the government supports enterprises in two main ways: through direct compensation for losses for businesses operating in frontline regions, and through partial compensation of the insurance premium for companies from all regions of Ukraine. The system was developed in response to numerous requests from the business community, which faces regular attacks from the Russian Federation.

Compensations and Participation Conditions

The maximum compensation amount for enterprises located in frontline areas is 10 million hryvnias for each property object that has been destroyed or damaged since January 1, 2026. To participate in the program, a company must make a one-time contribution of 0.5% of the assessed potential loss. This approach allows for business development planning even amidst ongoing war and heightened risks for enterprises along the frontline.
