Fuel Market Situation: Monitoring and Price Dynamics
According to the AMCU, in March and the first half of April this year, both increases and decreases in prices for gasoline, diesel fuel, and liquefied gas were observed in the Ukrainian market. The Committee monitors the situation daily and emphasizes that the retail markets for petroleum products in Ukraine have a competitive structure.
“The retail markets for petroleum products in Ukraine have a competitive structure. Competition should encourage economic entities to consider objective factors not only regarding the increase in procurement prices but also concerning the conditions for their decrease,” the statement reads.
AMCU Requirements for Gas Station Operators
The Committee emphasizes that the fuel markets have high social importance and significantly impact price formation in many sectors of the country’s economy. In this regard, on April 23, the AMCU sent recommendations to the largest market operators regarding the formation and change of retail prices for gasoline, diesel fuel, and autogas based on objective economic factors. In particular, this includes the need to consider market fluctuations in fuel procurement costs and strict adherence to legislation on economic competition.
The AMCU has obliged gas stations to consider the specified recommendations within ten days to ensure transparent and competitive pricing in the fuel market.
