Growing Interest from the Private Sector

According to Koopman, the private sectors of both Ukraine and the EU are showing high interest in collaboration in joint production. Two joint ventures have already been established, which, according to the EU official, is a significant sign of positive dynamics. He emphasized that this year’s forum in Brussels gathered 1,500 business representatives, while last year the event was attended by 1,200 participants, indicating a growing interest in partnership with Ukraine.

“We see interest from the private sector on both sides – Ukraine and Europe – to move forward. Today, two joint ventures have already been established, which is very indicative,” said the official.

Focus on Defense Technologies and Development Prospects

Particular attention at the forum was given to opportunities for cooperation in the field of defense technologies. Koopman noted that despite certain challenges in Ukraine’s defense industry, funding has now become available, and operational plans have been developed to advance joint projects. This creates the conditions for activating production cooperation between the parties.

According to Gert-Jan Koopman’s forecast, by the end of 2026, the number of joint ventures between Ukraine and EU countries could grow to 15-20, opening new opportunities for attracting investments and developing Ukraine’s technological potential.
