Zhytomyr Region Holds 20% of the World’s Titanium Reserves and Unique Minerals

Zhytomyr Oblast is one of the key regions in the world for titanium reserves – over 80% of Ukraine’s explored deposits of this metal are concentrated here, accounting for approximately 20% of the global reserves. This gives the region strategic importance for the development of the defense industry, aircraft manufacturing, and rocket production.

Potential of Rare Earth Metals and Minerals

The region is home to the unique Perzhan deposit, which is distinguished by its high level of mineralization. Here, extraction is possible not only for titanium but also for other valuable ores – beryllium, tantalum, niobium, and lithium. Additionally, Zhytomyr holds a leading position in Ukraine for quartzite reserves, which constitute nearly 84% of national resources and are of strategic importance for the metallurgy industry.

Leadership in Stone Production and Investment Prospects

The region also retains 60% of Ukraine’s decorative stone reserves and is a European leader in the volumes of labradorite and gabbro (80% of Ukraine’s reserves). These resources form a strong raw material base for the development of the construction sector and exports.

“Zhytomyr is an ideal platform for investment within the framework of agreements on the development of rare earth minerals, which Ukraine has signed with the USA and the EU. We aim not just to export raw materials but to create a complete processing cycle. Instead of ilmenite concentrate – the production of special alloys for high-tech industries. This will create new jobs, attract investments, and ensure sustainable development of the region,” added Bunechko.

Thanks to its significant mineral and raw material potential, Zhytomyr remains one of the most attractive regions for industrial development and investment attraction, as well as for the establishment of new high-tech production facilities with a complete cycle for processing strategic materials.
