President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky warned that the Volyn, Zhytomyr, and Rivne regions are under threat of a possible military attack from the territory of Belarus. According to him, these western regions of Ukraine face the same danger as the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, which are located on the northern borders of the country.

Strengthening Defense in the Northern Direction
During a working trip to the Rivne region, Zelensky emphasized the importance of enhancing the protection of the northern border. In his video address against the backdrop of a local church, he also spoke about discussions with community leaders on security, education, transportation, and other important regional issues. The president specifically highlighted the need to prepare for potential threats from Belarus.
“We talked with community leaders, including about the protection of this northern direction. Considering the threats that exist,” said Zelensky.
Belarus’s Reaction and Ukraine’s Further Actions
Zelensky reported that he received new intelligence regarding a potential attack from Belarus, similar to the events of the first days of the Russian invasion in 2022. He stressed that the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to strengthen the northern borders and are ready to act preemptively in case of signs of preparations for an attack by the enemy.
At the same time, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, stated that he sees no grounds for an attack from Belarus, but emphasized his readiness to respond in case of “invasion.” Representatives of Minsk also noted that in the event of escalation, the Russian army could arrive to assist the Belarusians.
