Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is making an official visit to Madrid on March 18, where a series of defense agreements between Ukraine and Spain are set to be signed. This was announced by the spokesperson for the head of state, Serhiy Nykyforov.

Signing of Defense Agreements and Participation in Negotiations

During his stay in Spain, Zelensky visited the defense company Sener Aerospace & Defence, where he familiarized himself with samples of military equipment and the company’s production capabilities. It is at this facility that the Ukrainian-Spanish defense agreements are expected to be signed in the presence of the president, marking an important step in strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of security and defense.

“The president has just arrived at the Sener Aerospace & Defence facility. He will inspect samples of equipment and the production. The Ukrainian-Spanish defense agreements will be signed in the presence of the president,” Nykyforov informed journalists.

The visit program also includes a meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. The leaders will discuss issues of bilateral cooperation and sign important documents aimed at further developing the partnership between the two countries.

Meetings with Spanish Leadership and Future Plans

In addition to official negotiations, Zelensky will hold meetings with the Speaker of the Congress of Deputies, Francina Armengol, and the President of the Senate, Pedro Rollán, within the walls of the Spanish Parliament. In the evening of the same day, a meeting with King Felipe VI of Spain is scheduled, highlighting the special status of Ukrainian-Spanish relations.

It is worth noting that the day before, the head of the Ukrainian state visited London, where he met with King Charles III, addressed the British Parliament, and signed a Ukrainian-British declaration on deepening cooperation in the field of security and defense industry together with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

According to media reports, after completing his visit to Madrid, the president of Ukraine will head to Brussels, where he will participate in a European Council meeting scheduled for March 19-20.
