About 70% of car sales transactions in Ukraine occur within a single region, meaning most cars remain in the same area where they were registered. Another 10% of vehicles leave their registration region, while 20% come from other areas.

Which regions lead in vehicle circulation
According to the Institute for Market Research, a detailed analysis of the movement of used cars within the country has been conducted for the first time — from region to region, without considering crossing the customs border. Experts note that the migration of vehicles reflects current demand, the saturation level of the vehicle fleet, the availability of service facilities, and the level of socio-economic mobility of residents in different regions.
The highest outflow of cars in the internal market is recorded in the Kyiv region: 75% of the cars sold here are sent to other regions. This is due to the fact that Kyiv region serves as a significant logistics and wholesale hub due to the large number of dealerships and its proximity to the capital.
“The record holder for the outflow of cars in the internal market is the Kyiv region. Specifically, 75% of the cars sold here go to other regions.”
In contrast, the lowest migration activity is shown by the Chernivtsi region, where over 81% of vehicles remain in place. A similar trend is observed in the Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Odesa, and Zakarpattia regions, where most cars stay within the region.
Regions with the highest influx and stable market
Kyiv and Lviv have a high turnover of vehicles; however, these cities demonstrate moderate migration activity: in the capital, 63% of cars remain in place, while in Lviv, this figure slightly exceeds 63%.
The largest influx of used cars is observed in the Kherson and Donetsk regions, where in Kherson, over 40% of cars are “arrivals” from other regions. This situation is related to changes in the population structure, deferred demand, and the need to renew the vehicle fleet lost due to hostilities.
In the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Zhytomyr, and Poltava regions, the internal car market remains stable. Local transactions prevail here, and the share of incoming and outgoing cars approaches the national average indicators.
