Ukrainian Citizen Passport: When to Update Your Photo
Ukrainian citizens are required to affix a new photograph in their passport booklet at the ages of 25 and 45. One month is provided from the date of reaching the respective age to fulfill this requirement. If the photo is not updated within the specified time, the passport is considered invalid, and the violator faces a fine ranging from 17 to 51 hryvnias.
In the case of a delay in updating the photo, it is necessary to obtain a modern ID card, which requires more time and money compared to the standard procedure.

Driver’s License: Nuances of Exchange and Use
Owners of old driver’s licenses issued before 2013 are advised to exchange them for modern documents. The cost of the exchange is 608 hryvnias plus a bank fee. For this, a passport, a valid driver’s license, and usually a medical certificate are required (during martial law, it may not be required).
If the validity of the driver’s license expired after the introduction of martial law, it can be used until martial law is lifted. However, after the cancellation of martial law, the document must be replaced.
Timely updating of passports and driver’s licenses will help avoid fines, unnecessary expenses, and unpleasant situations related to the loss of document validity.
